Electric Motor Maintenance and Overhaul Services;

Proper electric motor maintenance is important to ensure optimal life and performance for your electric motor.

Maintenance work includes checking the temperature, power, contact of components, as well as cleaning the outside of the engine. For regular maintenance, we check the insulation resistance, clean with compressed air, tighten the parts, add or replace grease in the bearings. Especially in dusty or corrosive environments, we recommend regular inspection every 3 months.

Conduct inspection and operation of 3-phase electric motor:

- We should regularly monitor the sound of the motor in operation.
- Check the energy consumption with an ammeter.
Check the temperature of the electric motor when operating.
- Check the contact of fuses, circuit breakers and other starting points.
- Clean the outside of the electric motor to avoid dust.
- Repair and maintain the electric motor periodically according to the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule.
- In operating environments with a lot of dust and corrosive chemicals, the electric motor should be checked periodically every 3 months.

Work to be done in periodic maintenance and repair of electric motors:

1. Check the exterior of the 3-phase electric motor:

- First clean the exterior.
- Check the insulation resistance.
- Blow off the dust with an air compressor.
- Check and tighten the bolts and nuts at the base.
- Check the grease in the electric motor bearings, add more if needed.
- Check and adjust the electrical protection devices.

2. Check the inside of the 3-phase electric motor:

Usually, after a 3-phase motor has been operating for 4,000 hours, it should be overhauled once. Including the following specific tasks:
- Re-check the bearings
- Replace the bearing grease
- Measure the insulation of the coils (if necessary, dry the coils).
- Repair any errors or damage that arise during operation.

Notes when adding grease to the 3-phase electric motor bearings:
- Do not fill the grease too full, only about 2/3 of the grease cap.
- When adding grease, pay attention to the motor's performance (heat resistance, load capacity, ...).

Steps to disassemble and assemble a 3-phase electric motor:

- First, remove the electrical wires
- Remove the grounding device.
- Remove the electric motor from the machine system.
- Next, remove the pulley from the electric motor. Note to remove it with a puller, do not use a hammer.
- Continue to remove the fan blade cover and fan blade.
- Remove the rear grease cap of the electric motor.
- Remove the front and rear cover bolts
- Use a hammer to lightly tap on a wooden or soft metal pad such as copper,... to remove the rear cover. Must tap sequentially on each two symmetrical points of the diameter on the cover surface. Note to remove the screws first if there are screws holding the cover and bearings.
- Pull the front cover together with the core out of the shell. Thread a piece of cardboard with a smooth surface into the gap between the core and the shell below before pulling. Then pull the core slowly and use your hand to support it, avoiding scratching the wiring. For large motor cores, when pulling them out, support them with a winch.
- The core after being pulled out must be placed on a wooden stand. Do not let the core or motor shaft come into direct contact with the ground or table surface.
- Only remove the bearing from the shaft when it is necessary to replace it. Before removing, the shaft must be cleaned and a thin layer of lubricant or vaseline must be applied to the shaft.
- Use a red-hot iron ring, cover the outside of the bearing to heat the bearing, then use a puller to remove it.
- Reassemble the parts in reverse order.

How to replace 3 phase electric motor bearings:

- Clean the contact surface of the shaft with the bearing with oil.
- Clean the shaft and check that there is no trace on the surface, then apply a thin layer of lubricant or vaseline.
- Boil the bearing in pure mineral oil at a temperature of 70-80 degrees Celsius.
- Install the bearing on the shaft while it is still hot at 70-80 degrees Celsius. Gradually insert the bearing into the shaft using a copper tube with a convex closed bottom or a puller.
- After installation, the electric motor must rotate gently and smoothly.
How to store electric motors in the warehouse:
The warehouse used to store electric motors must have a high, dry floor, no standing water, a roof without leaks, air vents and ventilation pipes, etc., not located near sewers or environments with a lot of dust, acid, base or sulfur vapors.
The electric motor must be checked and maintained before being put into the warehouse. If the electric motor is being packaged, it should be opened. Do not leave the electric motor outdoors.
