DAP Fertilizer Factory No. 2 Project

On the morning of November 7, Vietnam Chemical Group (VINACHEM) and DAP Joint Stock Company No. 2 - VINACHEM held the inauguration ceremony of Diamon Phosphate Fertilizer Plant (DAP) No. 2. Attending the ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai; Comrade Hoang Quoc Vuong, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade; Comrade Nguyen Van Vinh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Pham Van Cuong, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, leaders of a number of central departments, agencies and Lao Cai province.

DAP Fertilizer Plant No. 2 Project is one of the projects to celebrate the 12th National Party Congress. After nearly 4 years of construction and trial operation, the factory officially came into operation. The project was started on an area of ​​72.4 hectares in Tang Loong Industrial Park, Bao Thang District. With the scale of a national level 2 chemical industrial project, the project has a total investment of 5,170.9 billion VND. DAP Joint Stock Company No. 2 implemented the project through a foreign EPC1 general contractor (design, equipment supply, construction), the investor directly managed the project and hired foreign consultants to manage the construction of the EPC1 package. The factory uses advanced technology and equipment mainly from the US and European countries. According to the design, the factory has an annual production capacity of 330,000 tons of diammonium phosphate fertilizer with a total nutrient content of more than 61% and intermediate products such as 420,000 tons of concentrated sulfuric acid and 162,000 tons of phosphoric acid, with an operating time of 330 days/year.

The project started construction on December 26, 2011 and after 3 years, the first ton of DAP product was produced for trial run. The trial run was completed on June 30, 2015 with results meeting all criteria on capacity, quality, consumption norms and environmental standards. The project officially went into production on July 1, 2015 and has so far produced nearly 130,000 tons of DAP fertilizer, of which 100,000 tons were consumed in the domestic market and exported abroad.

The operation of the DAP Fertilizer Factory No. 2 will contribute to increasing the domestic DAP fertilizer output to 660,000 tons/year, basically meeting market demand, ensuring national food security and effectively using Vietnam's available resources. At the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Van Vinh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, on behalf of the provincial leaders, congratulated the staff and workers of the factory. The Provincial Party Committee Secretary affirmed: The project's operation will contribute to the agricultural development of Vietnam and Lao Cai province. And for Lao Cai province in particular, the project also makes an important contribution to the sustainable development of the province, both bringing great efficiency in economic development and contributing to solving employment for workers in the province. He expressed his hope that the Government, ministries and central branches will continue to pay attention and create conditions for production enterprises in the province to operate effectively. Lao Cai province will create the best conditions for the factory to stabilize production and operate effectively.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai expressed his joy when DAP Project No. 2 came into operation. Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai emphasized: DAP Factory No. 2 project coming into operation together with DAP Factory No. 1 project in Hai Phong will contribute to meeting 2/3 of the country's DAP demand, reducing imports from abroad. The project is an important step marking the development of the chemical industry. In the context of current international economic integration, the project contributes to increasing the competitiveness of domestic products with foreign products.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai hopes that the company will continue to make efforts to ensure the long-term effectiveness of the project, and at the same time requires the company to improve its management and operation role, ensuring safety for the community.
